Sit a Spell

Come sit a spell and enjoy a lovely cup of witch's brew. Continuing with my Anthropologie monogrammed 'K' tea cups, this Halloween miniature garden has a ceramic tarantula and frog, glass eyeballs and lime green lamp work beads that are all nestled among Irish moss.

Enjoy your weekend!

Vintage Witch Photograph Ornaments

I love old witch costume photos from the 1930's-1950's. The one in the center on the bottom row is my absolute favorite. The soldered jewelry pendants were big 12-15 years ago, but I've always wanted to encase these great images in mini glass ornaments. I spent last week watching YouTube videos on the soldering process and ordered supplies. These ornaments are larger than the standard microscope glass that is commonly used. Relatively simple, but with all new things, it's a learning curve.

I'm in charge of our garden club's September project which will be making pressed flower glass frames. I've been pressing flowers from my garden since the spring and used some of those flowers for these ornaments.

The striped ribbon is from Etsy seller Anastasia Marie. She has the most beautiful French, Italian, Swiss, and Japanese ribbon selection. I find that the 3/8" ribbon works best for small ornaments.

I can't wait to hang these ornaments on a table top version of my large Halloween tree. They will go nicely with my Old World Christmas Halloween light cover collection. Still debating if I have the time to make some mini gourd ornaments to display with these.

The Witches' Garden

This is the second Halloween-themed miniature garden that I created over the weekend. I bought the smaller version of this pot when I did the first Halloween garden and I think it's perfect! The flying witch on her broomstick is from Etsy seller WallFinds21. The metal stake is short, so I cut a very small metal garden hook and used Gorilla glue to adhere it to the silhouette. I will try to find some yellow stained glass and cut it into a circle to be placed behind the witch. She needs a full moon when flying.

The witch stirring the cauldron is from Etsy seller CircleCityMetalworks. Both of the witches are so much fun and I love the detail in both of the metal pieces.

The metal mushroom silhouettes are from a local garden center called Puritas Nursery in Cleveland.

The ceramic skull has a pretty purple/grey air plant that goes well with the lavender aquarium rocks.

I filled miniature dollhouse glass bottles with gold German glass glitter, iridescent star glitter, and small dark blueish/green glass seed beads. I had some unusual green marbles, so those are the cauldron bubbles.

The ceramic pico mushrooms can be found on Etsy and I purchased mine from Groovy Plants Ranch in Marengo, OH.

I am excited about the healthy looking Venus Flytrap plant that sits behind the witch. They usually end up croaking on me, but hoping this one makes after getting detailed care information. Never trigger these plants because it can cause them to die. Where I have this pot displayed should get lots of little gnats and other winged creatures. The amount of spiders by our front door is crazy, so you know they are being well-fed.

I also made a sweet tea cup indoor miniature garden last week. I've been waiting for this adorable ceramic house to arrive from Ukraine. It's even cuter in person! These houses can be purchased from Etsy seller GnomeHomeCeramics. I love me some Anthropologie tea cups, so I have been able to score a couple of the monogrammed "K" tea cups on eBay. The other tea cup will be a Halloween design- I know shocking!
Have a great week and go outside and plant something fun!
