A Full Moon Feast

This year's Halloween dinner theme was "A Full Moon Feast" in honor of werewolves.  Below are the invites that went out to family.  If you are familiar with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, you know that Professor Lupin recommends eating some chocolate to regain your strength.  Everyone got a Professor Lupin chocolate bar in the event they encountered something monstrous 😱

A special delivery to Texas.  Special treats await inside...

For a surprise tactile sensation, a little faux werewolf fur at the bottom of the box.

Before the feast, some pumpkin carving had to take place 🎃

The table is set!

I sewed the placemats with flannel fabric and a backing of black felt.  Torn edges for that beastly effect.  "Silver" bullets with diner's names were made from a wooden dowel and a small circular wooden disc. Shaped the dowel with a belt sander.  The full moon plates are Fiestaware and ended up matching the nylon lantern perfectly.  Napkin holders are plastic fangs that I found at Wal-Mart.

The howling werewolf centerpiece was cut from 1/4" birch wood.  I traced the image with a black Sharpie pen on a piece of 5" x 7" glass and used my iPhone's flashlight mounted on a Solo plastic cup as a tripod to project a larger image on the wood.  Who needs a four figure projector?  The Solo cup worked perfectly!  I used a large Dremel to cut most of the silhouette and a small handheld scroll saw to get the areas the large Dremel couldn't reach.  One spray can of black matte Rustoleum finished the project.

Wooden oval frame from JoAnn's and werewolf image printed on cardstock.

Now let's get to the food...

The signature drink was "Lycanthropy Libation" in a growler (because werewolves like to drink from growlers).  The 64 ounce amber glass growler was purchased from Amazon.  Cameron has bartending experience, so he was tasked with developing a cocktail with a bite.  He used a habenero infused tequila and several concoctions of special mixes.

We enjoyed a full moon salad with chunks of dragonfruit, pawtatoes roasted from purple fingerlings and slivered almonds for "claws," grilled steak that was cut into bites and a wine reduction sauce.  Cameron's drink creation was delicious and packed with a bite!

Hope you have a Happy Halloween!
